PERFORMANCE EVALUATION OF APPROXIMATE DIRECTIONAL ROUTING PROTOCOL FOR HIERARCHICAL NETWORK

Abstract
Hierarchical Network model divides the network into three sub -layers . Each layer is known as tier of the
network. Each layer performs some s pecific functions . As network s ize increases , latency and delay also increase. To
reduce this latency and delay, many such protocols had been invented. This paper dis cusses the proposal of an Approximate
Directional Routing Protocol for Hierarchical Network (ADHRP) which is a sophis ticated protocol to reduce latency,
interference and collis ion. The exis ting ADRP mainly inspires this protocol. ADHRP is a reactive protocol which is s
imulated in the hierarchical environment and attains a better performance. In the exis ting system, packet forwarding is done
by directional antennas instead of Omni- directional routing s chemes . Simulations are done us ing a Network Simulator
NS2. The s imulation results reveal that b y applying ADRP in Hierarchical network better performance benefit can be
achieved. The results assure a cons iderable increas e in its performance and throughput.
