OPTIMAL PLACEMENT OF PHASOR MEASUREMENT UNIT USING BINARY FROG LEAPING ALGORITHM

Abstract
Phasor Measurement Unit (PMU) plays a critical role in monitoring and controlling the power system grid. The optimal placing of PMU is essential to realise fully observability of the system. This paper proposes an innovative algorithm for optimal PMU placement. This new algorithm is a modification of the Shuffled Frog Leaping Algorithm named Binary Frog Leaping Algorithm (BFLA). This algorithm is implemented on the various standard test bus system. The proposed algorithm is very simple in finding the optimal location of PMU’s than the existing algorithms by reducing the processing time
