PROFIT ON INVESTMENT OF REGIONAL RURAL BANKS (With special reference to sponsored by State Bank of India)

Abstract
The commercial banking industry in India started in 1786 with the establishment of the Bank of Bengal in Calcutta.
To create a strong and competitive banking system, a number of reform measures were initiated in early 1990s.
The thrust of the reforms was on increasing operational efficiency, strengthening supervision over banks, creating
competitive conditions and developing technological and institutional infrastructure. The RRBs crossed over three
decades; they have achieved performance to the expected level quantitatively not turning towards sound financial
management and productivity. Moreover the achieved performance is not uniform though they are working under
the approach of same management. Effective performance is the success of every business. In order to achieve the
effective and efficient performance, the RRBs have been taken up amalgamation process in the entire organization
in the year 2005-06. Amalgamation on of regional rural banks was considered to strengthen all the branches
financially. In this paper venture is made to discuss the “Profit on Investment of Regional Rural Banks are all
sponsored by State Bank of India.” in this article we had used comparative analysis.
