A REVIEW ON RECENT ADVANCEMENTS IN BATTERY MANAGEMENT SCHEMES FOR ELECTRIC VEHICLES

Abstract
Maintenance and operation is a major task especially functioning of batteries in the working period in electric
vehicles. The battery management system (BMS) involving sophisticated algorithms provide an advantage to protect the
battery almost all the time. Based on the requirement on the application of end-user, the module is designed and the battery
pack is structured. This results in reducing the negative effects and improving the positive effects in the battery system.
Nowadays, in addition to a generalized algorithms, most advanced and secured algorithms have been developed and are been
implemented in the battery management system. In order to detect the faults, we need to identify the methods those reduce
the error of the State Of Charge estimation. It is maintained that the accuracy is reached to maximum value resulting the error
to be quiet low value. The algorithms improve the performance and life of a battery through proper BMS. The reduced-order
models with and without RC pairs can provide the results with reasonable cost. In addition to this, the sensor fault diagnosis
for a (BMS) protects the battery against faults. Whenever there lie faults within the system, a proper diagnosis procedure is
implemented. This procedure will detect and isolate the sensor faults. However, the minute residual faults will not cause any
major impact on the working of a battery system. These residual faults can be neglected. The battery pack is timely
monitored its condition, protected against hazards, charge/discharge rates are analyzed, diagnosis is implemented, and data is
stored and thus managed and thus assessed. The results of "mixed" simple algorithms on embedded onboard electronics also
have an impact on the protection of the battery pack. An innovative battery management system methods been introduced to
solve the issue that old battery banks can't be reused with new battery banks during life expansion.
