Abstract
“COVID-19” is a pandemic outbreak caused by a Novel Corona virus and has been declared as a Public Health Emergency of International Concern by World Health Organization. Corona virus is zoonotic pathogen that is present in humans and various animals with a wide range of clinical features from asymptomatic course to requirement of hospitalization in the intensive care unit. The 2019-novel corona virus ‘nCoV’ is a major source of disaster in the 21th century.
Review and discussion of 60 research articles published till March 11, 2020 was undertaken in present study for the measures to follow a better understanding for the prevention and control of “COVID-19”.Cases of “COVID-19” were first observed in Wuhan, China where seafood market is situated. Patients who have contracted “COVID-19” had reported with symptoms like high fever, dry cough, pneumonia, difficulty in breathing, headache, watery diarrhea, hemoptysis and fatigue. Various preventive measures like hand wash practices, use of facemasks, avoidance of public contact, early case detection, contact tracing and strict quarantines are being recommended for reducing the transmission. As till date no specific antiviral treatment is available, patients with“COVID-19” are treated symptomatically and are given supportive care. However, the lack of knowledge to prevent/treat an attack is a major lacuna at this current point of time. Hence there is need to understand the measures for interruption of the transmission of virus from person to person. It is essential to update knowledge regarding ‘nCoV’ so as to prevent exportation of cases from country to country and territories. Acquiring knowledge regarding precautionary measures of interruption it would be possible to prevent further transmission of ‘nCoV’ disease from exported cases if they were to happen. Although there are studies who are emphasizing on relevance to control “COVID-19” a public emergency, still new studies are required to be conducted and encouraged to manage this kind of public health emergency in both short- and long- term duration. Hence this present review was undertaken to have an insight in “COVID-19”, also provide valid, reliable and feasible measures for interrupting transmission of ‘nCoV-19’.

Key words: COVID-19, nCoV, interruption measures, causes, prevention and control
