CHARACTERIZATION OF ALUMINIUM HYBRID COMPOSITE REINFORCED WITH BAGGASE ASH AND GRAPHITE PROCESSED THROUGH SQUEEZE CASTING

Abstract
The focus of the present research is lies on development of a novel waste particle reinforced hybrid aluminium matrix composite and its characterization. The development of composite is done with aluminium 7075 base material along with bagasse ash and graphite as reinforcing mediums. The amount of bagasse ash is varied from 0 to 16% in the aluminium matrix whereas the graphite is added as minimal as 2%. The composite fabrication methodology followed is squeeze casting and the characterizations performed are density, hardness and tensile properties. The results confirmed the positive effect of reinforced particles i.e. hardness and tensile properties improved.
