DESIGN AND PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS OF SINGLE AND THREE PHASE DIODE CLAMPED MULTILEVEL INVERTER

Abstract
The power electronic device called inverter which is used to convert the dc power to ac power at desired output voltage.
Multilevel inverters are used to synthesize the pure sinusoidal waveform from the several levels of dc voltages and also it
produces minimum harmonic distortion. For large power applications, the multilevel inverters came as an emerging converter,
and it also produces the stair-case voltage waveform. High voltage capability reduced common mode voltages, low dv/dt are the
some of the attractive features of multilevel inverter. In this paper a five, seven and nine level diode clamped multilevel inverter
is developed using Simulink. Gating signals for the switches have been generated by using carrier-based triangular wave pulse
width modulation. Thus the simulation results for five, seven and nine level and total harmonic distortion for the output have
been identified by MATLAB/SIMULINK.
