A Review on Minimization of Power Losses and Improving Voltage Profile Using Reconfiguration of Distribution Network

Abstract
The power system structure is changing rapidly around the our city and world too.The complexity of the distribution network is a big challenge, with the increase in size due to technical losses. Technical losses are caused by the energy dissipating in the conductors. A large amount of losses in the electrical system are in the primary and secondary distribution lines.Plans to reduce power losses have changed over the years to deal with the changing nature of the power system. A big change is observed in the last decade in methodologies, strategies used for minimization of power losses and Improving the voltage profile.In this paper, review of different methods which are proposed to reduce the power losses and improving the voltage profile is presented which includes Capacitor Placement, Reconfiguration, Reconfiguration with DG placement. In this paper,review of different strategies used to solve the methods proposed which includes heuristic methods, meta heuristic techniques with search algorithm, hybrid methods etc., and different guidelines formed.

Key words: Distribution system, Network reconfiguration, Distributed Generation(DG),Loss reduction, Voltage Profile.
