Experimental investigation on Marine algae for maximizing the performance and reduction of emission in Diesel engine

Abstract
The increased demand of fossil based fuel gases for the growing population has also increased its disadvantage of increased greenhouse gases and peak pricing these criteria has demanded a replacement of renewable and eco-friendly biofuel. Despite of failures of 2ndgeneration biodiesel the algal biofuel has emerged out to be a promising 3rdgeneration biofuel with its properties, availability and cultivation. The cultivation of algae for biofuel has an added advantage of treating waste water. The biofuel is derived from the purchased the algal oil (species) by the process of alkalic transesterification using methanol and sodium hydroxide( basic catalyst) in the molar ratio of 6:1 the obtained mixture contains ester and biofuel which is further processed using downstream technology such as extraction, centrifrigation and purified using vacuum drying or high performance liquid chromatography. Thus we could able to extract the biodiesel from algal. The emission and engine performance analysis test are taken with the help of the biodiesel.
