DEVELOPMENT AND VALIDATION OF ADVERSITY QUOTIENT SCALE FOR SECONDARY SCHOOL TEACHERS

Abstract
Adversity quotient is a personís ability to deal and overcome all the adversities faced in life by
him/her. This study was done for the validation and development of scale on adversity quotient of teachers
teaching in secondary schools. The present study was done to assess adversity quotient level of seven hundred
teachers teaching in secondary schools of Punjab (India). A three factor structure was explored through
exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and further confirmed by the results of confirmatory factor analysis (CFA)
having a good model of fit. The overall and dimension-wise reliability statistics revealed that the items possess
adequate internal consistency. Validity statistics shows that the content validity and concurrent validity reveal a
significant correlation. So, the adversity quotient scale will provide valid and consistent results. Therefore, the
adversity quotient scale may be considered appropriate and good in measuring adversity quotient level of
teachers teaching in secondary schools.
