Abstract
My study is an attempt to evaluate the Water Quality Index by physico-chemical characteristics of Kothari River in Bhilwara District, Rajasthan. Water samples were collected from three different stations for three continue month. The samplings were chosen to cover the entire Bhilwara District. The main focus is to assess various quality parameters like pH, DO, TDS, Turbidity, hardness, B.O.D etc. In this study the value of all observed parameters shown in tables and represented in graphical format. The overall quality observed in assessment study that water of Kothari River moderately polluted. A comprehensive assessment of water quality parameters in surface water samples drawn from 3 different locations, 3 sites from each direction, in three month of years 2020 (January, February and March) was carried out to find out the suitability of water of Kothari River for drinking purpose. In present investigation 3 sampling station of Kothari River and its surrounding ware selected water samples were collected in the plastic Cane. pH, turbidity, total dissolved solids, alkalinity were analyzed using water analyzer, total hardness (TH) were measured by EDTA titration method, total alkalinity (TA) was determined by titrimetric method, Nitrate was determined by using Spectrophotometer, DO, BOD and chloride (Cl- ) by standard methods. All the glassware first cleaned with tap water, distill water and with solution before final use. The chemical and reagent were used for analysis were of AR grade. In three months nearly 30 water samples were collected from different locations of Bhilwara District. The methodology used for sampling was grab at the time of sampling the temperature was 20oC to 35oC. The samples were preserved in ice. The water samples have many types of parameters like physic-chemical, primary parameters, secondary parameters etc. The WQI reveals that the water quality of Kothari River water is polluted and not suitable for drinking purpose. The high WQI values were due to Nitrate, DO, and BOD. The result revealed that the local people of Bhilwara District need to treat the water before usage. The study recommended the rapid monitoring to find out the major sources of water pollution of Kothari River.

Key words: Spectrophotometer, Sample Stations, Physico-Chemical Parameters, Water Quality Index
