PROBABILISTIC DESIGN OF PLATE WITH POINT LOAD

Abstract
A deterministic analysis does not address the uncertainties involved in material properties, loads and dimensions of
the components, etc. However, in real life situations such uncertainties can affect significantly the conclusions drawn out of a
deterministic analysis. The principles of probabilistic analysis may be used to ascertain the effects of such uncertainties. Be
that as it may, for wide acknowledgment, probabilistic techniques must be interfaced with widely used finite element
packages. In this paper probabilistic analysis was done on a plate with point load. The variations in the material properties,
dimensions, load and the corresponding changes in the output are analyzed using ANSYS PDS software. The computer code
was developed using C language to verify the results obtained in ANSYS PDS.
