Abstract
The present study is conducted among Maram Naga tribal women in Manipur to find out the hindrance of women participation in higher education. For this, the researcher has selected 323 women by using simple random sampling method. The study was conducted from July to October 2017 by using a questionnaire as a tool. Further, an analysis was carried out with the help of t-test, one-way ANOVA and Friedman test. The study shows that women are discouraged to go for higher education by the parents and society, as they perceive the range of jobs open to girls is limited and often changes their social structure. The study also shows an absence of proper infrastructure with professional/technical course nearby the villages to go for higher education. Other factors such as age, marital status and parentsí education are found to play a very significant role in Maram Naga women higher education.
