EFFECT OF DIVIDEND POLICY ON FIRM PERFORMANCE: EVIDENCE FROM SELECT NSE NIFTY COMPANIES

Abstract
The present study has been conducted with the objective to explore the extent of
association between dividend policy and financial performance of firms. For the purpose of the
study, annual reports data of 50 Indian companies listed in National Stock Exchange have been
used. DPS has been used as the proxy for dividend policy whereas ROE, ROA and Tobin‟s Q have
been used as the proxies to measure financial performance of the sample companies. Based on the
correlation and regression analysis, the study finds that there is a significant positive relationship
between dividend policy and financial performance.
