SMART HOME ELDERLY PATIENT MONITORING FRAMEWORK BASED ON PATIENTS GAIT DATA USING ROBOT MOTION DESIGN AND LEARNING APPROACH

Abstract
In designing human robot communication interface, non-verbal interaction modalities such as robot motions are
very essential. Such modalities improve verbal communication and boost human robot interactions. Itís challenging to
design and implement a new set of robotic gesture based motions. This solicits the developers to relate an instruction
accurately to control the robotís embedded motors. In this paper, authors initially propose a human gesture inspired
technique to generate robot motions. The proposed method captures human gesture signals using motion tracking
techniques, converts them into robotic instructions (motions) and executes them in the real-time robots. This input signal
is pre-processed using Normalized Data Nonlinearity (NDN) Ė LMS adaptation method and it is called a Gait signal. To
reduce the gait fluctuation of intra-subject a pre-processed signal with a gait template synthesis method is presented. The
elderly people monitoring system inspired by gait is introduced in Hybridized hidden markov model with ANN defined
to maximize the accuracy of recognition. The feasibility of the proposed system is evaluated through a series of tests
employing a wide range of acceleration signals in a public datasets acquired from sixty four old age people in 50-80
years of age group from 3 IMUs worn by them.
