MOLECULAR DETECTION OF 18S RRNA GENE OF ENTEROBIUS VERMICULARIS AT WASIT PROVINCE

Abstract
The current study was conducted in Wasit province / Iraq and included 96 stool samples (44 male , 52 female ) from
suspected patients of parasitic infection during the period from October 2019 to April 2020. All samples were examined
using direct wet smear lugol's iodine stain, Scotch tape method and polymerase chain reaction (traditional PCR). The
results showed that 58 samples (60.4 %) out of 96 patients were positive when examined by direct wet and lugol's
iodine stain, The results showed that 23 samples (23.95%) out of 96 patients were positive when examined by Scotch
tape , where the results showed 35 samples (36.4%) out of a total of 96 gave a positive result from Enterobius
vermicularis in the studied samples. Regarding the conventional (PCR) was performed to detect E. vermicularis based on
the RNA ribosome 18S gene test , The study showed that the percentage of the infection in the rural areas is more than
the urban, where the percentage was in rural areas 56 (58.33%), and the rate in urban areas 40(41.66%).This study is a
sensitive and accurate explanation of the molecular detection method for RNA ribosome 18S gene found in the pinworm
