Abstract
Mario Vargas Llosa is a Peruvian novelist with language experimenting practice and multi-talents. The Time of the Hero (1963), The Green House (1966), Conversation in the Cathedral (1969), The War of the End of the World (1981), The Storyteller (1987) and Aunt Julia and the Scriptwriter (1977) are few of his famous novels. Associated with the literary movement „Latin American Boom‟, Llosa is one of the Latin American masters to bring the literature to International light. His second novel The Green House is considered most complex of his novels. Set over 4 decades through various places of Peru, narrated in a non-chronological order, the novel tells the story of five characters: Bonifacia, Fushia, Anselmo, Lituma and Antonia. All the narratives are connected by the theme of exploitation. The novel stands as an instance of how the author‟s works are shaped by his experiences in a corrupted society and national history. The layers of social hierarchy and levels of exploitation through the influence of power structures characterize the novel The Green House. This paper bids an argument over the transformation of social structures as a result of influence of the power structures. It also tries to project how literature affects society and society affects literature.

Key words: culture and textuality, dissident reading, representation, interpretation, social structure
