ROLE OF LANGUAGE IN RETAINING EMPLOYEE’S IN MULTINATIONAL TELECOMMUNICATION COMPANIES MODERATING ROLE OF SUPERVISORY SUPPORT

Abstract
Drawing upon the equity theory and social cognitive theory, this study examines the role of self-perceived
English language proficiency on the turnover intention of the employees in multinational telecommunication
companies in Pakistan. In addition, this study examines the moderating role of perceived supervisor support on
the relationship between self-perceived English language proficiency, and turnover intention. To test the
proposed hypothesis data was collected through self administered questionaires. The study samples consisted of
235 employees working in all four multinational telecommunication companiese in Pakistan. Partial Least
Squares – Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) was employed to test the model. The finding showed that,
self-perceived English language proficiency were found to be significantly related to turnover intention. The
moderating effect of perceived supervisory support was not substantially supported in this study. Based on the
findings, the methodology, theoretical and practical implications of the study are discussed. The suggestion for
the future research is also offered.
