EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION ON PUNCHING OF BASALT FIBRE REINFORCEMENT COMPOSITE

Abstract
The present article deals with an experimental investigation of punching process for basalt fibre
reinforcement composite. Basalt polyester composite plate was prepared using hand lay-up technique.
Experiments were performed on mechanical power press according to full factorial design. Three levels of input
parameters (die clearance, stroke length and type of punch) were taken. The punched holes were captured as an
image and the delamination was measured using image analysis technique. The effect of input parameters on
delamination factor was investigated using analysis of variance (ANOVA). The optimization was carried out
using grey relational analysis (GRA).
