Use of Statistics in Nursing

R Sreeraja Kumar, Nithya K S, Sonia Chongtham.

Abstract
For incorporating the findings of empirical research into nursing practice, a working understanding
of the major fundamentals of statistical analysis is required. The main focus of this article is to describe common
statistical terms, present some common statistical tests, and explain the interpretation of results in nursing research
from inferential statistics. An overview of key statistical concepts including the distinction between parametric
and nonparametric statistics, different data types, and the interpretation of statistical significance is reviewed. The
author presents their research with examples of some of the most common statistical methods used in nursing
research, such as the Student Independent Study, Variance Analysis, and Regression. Nursing information focused
on clinical research plays a crucial role in improving evidentiary nursing practice. An essential skill for advanced
practice nurses is the ability to interpret and use quantitative findings from nursing research to ensure that our
patients are provided with the best possible care.

Key words: ANOVA, Correlation, Regression, Statistical, and Statistical Tests.
