Review of Agile Software Development Methodology

Abstract
During the past years, new software development methods were introduced to fit the new cultures
of the software development corporations. Most software companies nowadays aim to produce valuable Software
in short time period with minimal costs, and changing environments. Then Agile Methodologies were presented
to meet the new requirements of the software development companies. Nowadays software industry, technologies
and ever-evolving customer requirement requires more complex software demands. Agile based software
development is progressively being adopted by the software specialists as it assures fast software development
and high quality software products. It also offers responsiveness to make changes in user requirements according
to them. Agile processes have many important applications in the areas of software project management, software
schedule management, etc. In particular the goal of agile processes is to fulfill the faster development time with
lower defects rate. In this paper, significance, benefits and increasing adoption of agile methodologies in context
of today’s complex and evolving software demand is covered. It presents an analysis of three agile approaches
including Extreme Programming, KANBAN, and SCRUM, describes the differences between them and
recommends when to use them.
