FLEXIBLE PRODUCTION SYSTEM

Ms. Resham M, Ms. Smita Barik.

Abstract
Flexible Production system is a system capable of responds to change conditions. This flexibility
is generally divided into two key categories and a number of subcategories. The first category is called
flexibility of the machine, which allows the machinery to produce different products. The second category is the
routing of flexibility that allows different machines to perform the same operation. Flexible Production systems
are usually made up of three main components: CNC machine tools, transportation system and control system.
Flexible Production systems reflect a higher level of versatile production systems. In the last century, the
development of flexible Production systems (FPSs) and flexibility-based solutions (flexible assembly systems,
flexible selection and picking systems, automated warehouses) began. In many companies, the planning, design
and implementation process is not easy. Production industries face severe threats from market needs inflation,
corporate lifestyle, and globalization. In current situation, industries that respond rapidly with greater
competitiveness to market fluctuations will have great capacity to produce high-quality and low-cost products.
Flexible Production is a theory that allows production systems to operate under highly modified production
requirements

Key words: Automation, Flexible Production System, Machine, Planning, Production.
