DEVELOPING ENGLISH LANGUAGE SKILLS OF THE STUDENTS THROUGH PLAYBACK THEATRE TECHNIQUES WITH SPECIAL EMPHASIS TO SPEAKING SKILLS

Abstract
Drama is authentic which could be essentially employed in real conversations, wherein learners could communicate
their emotions, thoughts and ideas whilst paying attention to the feelings and thoughts of their contemporaries and
classmates. Main objective of the study is to study about the impact of teaching through drama technique on
developing the speaking skills of secondary and higher secondary school students. Teaching through drama plays a
vital role in developing the speaking skills among school students. Drama technique assists the learners and provides
them the vision for building more successful learning practices, methods, solutions and techniques. It was clear from
the analysis that there is positive relationship between teaching through drama and pronunciation, grammar,
vocabulary, fluency and comprehension among students. It was evident that teaching through drama assists in
developing speaking skills of secondary and higher secondary school students.
