THE ROLE OF SELF EFFICACY AND AGE IN DETERMINING SELFMONITORINGBEHAVIOR OF STUDENTS

Abstract
Self-monitoring indicates premeditated attention to aspects of one's activities or performance.Efficient self-regulated learning is based on positive self- assessments of one's
abilities and development toward learning goals since these viewpoint help retain inspiration for learning process and result in higher accomplishment. The main intention of
the research is to study about role of self-efficacy and age in determining self-monitoring behavior. Self-monitors use their social discernment to develop positive social
relations which will facilitate them to seek career opportunities or develop in their goal search. Self-monitoring can be considered as one of the important factors of selfefficacy
and the academic accomplishment. The study concluded that the level of self-efficacy score amongst learning students is comparatively high. There is positive
relationship self-efficacy, self-monitoring and students age. It was clear from the findings that self-efficacy is learned and could progress over age by means of positive social
communication and right social support. Apart from these, it was noted that self-monitoring and self-efficacy are interrelated with each other and both act as a catalyst in
enhancing the academic and individual performance of students.
