STUDY OF THE RHEOLOGICAL PROPERTIES OF VAGINAL SUPPOSITORIES WITH A DENSE EXTRACT OF LICORICE

Abstract
The article is devoted to the study of the rheological properties of vaginal suppositories with a thick extract of licorice prepared on a mixture of cocoa butter, sea buckthorn and milk thistle in a ratio of 8: 3: 7, with the addition of polysorbate 80. Structural and mechanical properties of the suppository have been analyzed on a “Rheolab QC” Anton Paar apparatus, at temperatures 300 C, 350C, 400C, at ten successively increasing speeds. Shear stress and dynamic viscosity were recorded. Shear stress indices (57.13 ± 25.8; 54.16 ± 20.7 and 35.47 ± 16.8, respectively) and dynamic viscosity (3.93 ± 0.5, 3.49 ± 0.7, and 3.03 ± 0.9) did not differ statistically significantly (t≤2.0, p> 0.05); dynamic viscosity values were similar. Therefore, the structure of the suppository did not significantly deteriorate at the studied temperatures.
The dependence of shear stress and dynamic viscosity was described by a strong linear negative correlation (r = -0.96-0.98), which means suppositories retain thixotropic properties at various temperature conditions. The dominance of thixotropy was confirmed by the calculation of “mechanical stability” (≈1.53). Thus, processing of the suppository mass at 40 ° C does not impair its fluidity and allows to do technological operations for producing a modeled dosage form.
The uniformity of the distribution of active and auxiliary components in the analyzed products was confirmed by a large scatter of the obtained values of shear stress at the studied temperatures. The minimum shear stress of 6.05 Pa was determined at 40 ° C and a shear rate of D 64.44 s-1 (1.07 rpm), the maximum value of 102.93 Pa was observed at 30 ° C and a shear rate of 644.37 s-1 (10.7 rpm). Consequently, the system begins to move even at low speeds
