WORKFORCE RESKILLING FOR FUTURE: OPTIMISING LEARNING THROUGH EDUCATION 4.0

Abstract
Employability lies on skills and knowledge. Continuous improvement of skills leads to higher productivity, increased efficiency and reduction in product defects which can be termed as learning curve. However, the scope for the employees to acquire new skills are very limited due hectic work schedule and work life balancing. This has raised major concern for both employer and employees as well. Employees find it hard to access conventional education amidst their work demands. Again for the employer to fill their employee skill gap to meet the mandate of industry 4.0 is becoming a huge challenge. This study try to address the challenges encounter by working professionals in getting best learning outcome to meet the expectations of industry 4.0 and the mediating role of education 4.0. An empirical research design with a multi stage sampling of 650 working professionals from industrial sectors in and around Chennai have been surveyed with structured questionnaire. The collected data have been compared with proposed model and hypothesis was tested with the help of Structural Equation Modelling. Study found that out of five factors, three factors - Affordability, Accessibility, and Availability-significantly influenced workerís learning outcome. Acceptability and Accommodation are the two major challenges faced by professionals which is tackled by facilitation provided by the education 4.0 system and has significantly waning the effect of barriers on learning outcome. The outcome of the study may be act as an instructive tool for policymaker and academician in preparing a learning projects or to justify investment on technology at the administrative level.
