CLASS IV EMPLOYEES’ KNOWLEDGE, ATTITUDE AND PRACTICES TOWARDS BIOMEDICAL WASTE MANAGEMENT AT TERTIARY CARE HOSPITAL: A CROSS- SECTIONAL STUDY.

Abstract
Background: The Biomedical waste generated from Healthcare centreswhile providing healthcare facility in terms of medical, diagnostic or therapeutic intervention activities represents a real Problem of nature and human world. The amount of biomedical waste in our country day by day. Objective: Study aimed to assess the current status of knowledge, attitude, and practices of Class IV Health Employee regarding biomedical waste management. Methods: A cross-sectional investigation was completed in tertiary care healthcare centre in Western Maharashtra, India. A pre-designed, semi-structured, anonymous questionnaire was used to collect the dada. A total of 100 Class IV Employee enrolled as study participants.Results: In study out of total score (16) to survey the information class IV employee they scored in range of 9-14.This indicates that Class IV Employee in healthcare setting have moderately adequate knowledge regarding BMWM. Attitude score Tool consist of 20 Statement items for assessment of attitude in participants. Attitude score was obtained by them ranges from 31-40. Out of total 100 class IV employee 99 obtained score in the range of 31 -39 with mean of 36.2± 1.7 SD. Out of total 35 practice score all class IV employee obtained practice score in the range of 26-34 practice score with mean of30.8 ± 1.5 SD. Conclusion: class IV employee have adequate knowledge, favourable attitude and good practices of BMW. Repeated training will upgrade their KAP towards the BMWM.
