COMPARE ULTRASOUND MORPHOMETRIC MEASUREMENTS AND DOPPLER VASCULAR STUDIES IN NORMAL AND IUGR FOETUSES

Abstract
Background: The IUGR is defined by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists as is the weight of the fetus below the estimated age. Clinically it is applied when the predicted foetal weight required for gestational age is less than 10th percentile, as perinatal mortality and morbidity in this group is significantly increased.
Aim: Evaluation of intrauterine growth restriction by Doppler study.
Objectives To detect of IUGR between 20 to 24 weeks using real-time sonography and Doppler velocimetry.
Methodology This study was a longitudinal study conducted in the Department of Radio-Diagnosis at the Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS). The duration of the study was from September 2014 to August 2016.
Conclusion The most widely accepted definition for diagnosing IUGR is when the expected foetal weight for gestational age is less than 10th percentile. The main and primary pathology in growth restriction is insufficient uterine contusion which is reflected as umbilical artery obstruction, changes in MCA are a secondary phenomenon.
