TAGUCHI-GRA FOR MULTI CRITERIA OPTIMIZATION OF TURNING PARAMETERS FOR AL/BAGASSE ASH/GR HYBRID COMPOSITE

Abstract
The focus of the present investigation is to optimize the turning parameters to minimize surface roughness and temperature while machining Al/Bagasse Ash/Gr hybrid composite. Al/Bagasse Ash/Gr hybrid composite is developed through squeeze casting method and turning experiment is performed based on the Taguchi L9 orthogonal array. The input parameters taken into consideration are bagasse ash percentage, feed and speed whereas the response parameters are surface roughness and temperature. Taguchi based grey relational analysis (GRA) is followed for finding common parameter combination that gives better surface finish and lower temperature while turning. Minimal reinforcement percentage, minimal feed and higher speed is recommended for turning Al/Bagasse Ash/Gr hybrid composite.
