EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON GREEN CONCRETE: A SUSTAINABLE APPROACH

Abstract
Industries manufacturing the cement are one of the main sources of producing CO2gas which is responsible for
greenhouse effect. Cement is a binding ingredient of concrete but each ton of cement produce about 0.7 ton of
carbon dioxide into the atmosphere during its manufacturing process. There are new methods of minimizing the
carbon by reducing the consumption of cement. Cement can be partially replacedby different substances like fly ash,
powdered glass, etc. The present study investigates the feasibility adoptingthe glass powder and fly ash as to a some
extent the substitute of cement formaking new concrete. Present study, the cementis partly substitutedas 15%, 30%
and 45 %by glass powder only and 15%, 30 % and 45% cement is replaced by glass and fly ash togetherwith equal
proportions for making concrete of M25 mix with 0.45 w/c ratio and tested in 28 days its compressive strength only.
Further, It has been observed that CO2 emission hasbeen reduced up to 30%.
