THE FULL SCALE FIRE EXTINGUISHER TEST FOR SILICA GEL FROM RICE HUSK ASH

Abstract
This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the use of silica gel from the extraction of rice husk ash as a
base material for fire extinguisher. The main component of rice husk ash extraction is silica, which has high
thermal properties so that it can be used as a fire extinguisher media. By using the experimental method, the
properties of the extraction of rice husk ash, analyzed using thermal gravimetric analysis, and using SEM-EDS.
As for the effectiveness of silica used as a primary fire extinguisher media, it is tested on a household scale for
fire extinguisher. With the results of a rapid burnout process compared to fire extinguisher using other media,
silica gel from the extraction of rice husk ash can be used for fire extinguisher but the effects of using silica
must be examined further.
