RECONSTRUCTING THE CURVE-SKELETONS OF 3D SHAPES USING CONVOLUTION NEURAL NETWORK

Abstract
Curve skeletons are most important descriptors for shapes, capable of capturing in a synthetic manner. Moreover, the curve
skeletons enable capturing to a certain extent that gives the topology and the geometry of a wide class of 3D objects. In this
work, we have planned to extract the curve skeletons of rotating 3D objects based on convolution neural network (CNN) and
background subtraction model (BS). The proposed method consist of two modules namely, Silhouette extraction and curve
skeleton extraction. Initially, Silhouettes are extracted from input 3D images using BS model. Then, from the Silhouette,
curve skeletons are extracted with the help of CNN. The proposed methodology is implemented in the working platform of
MATLAB and the results are analyzed by comparing with the existing approaches through a number of 3D texture analysis
datasets.
