Abstract
New Schiff base bis(4-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzylidene)hydrazinecarbothioamide (L4) was derived from vannilin
and thiosemicarbazide and characterized by their FTIR, 1HNMR, 13CNMR, elemental analysis and electronic
spectra. Poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) has been reacted with Schiff base (L4) to form modified PVC film (PVC-L4) in
tetrahydrofuran solvent. The modified PVC Schiff base metal complexes with different metals CuII, COII, NiII, and
SnII have been prepared. Physical properties of the modified PVC films are characterized by electronic, FTIR, and
SEM analyses. Optical properties of the modified PVC were investigated by UV-Vis spectrophotometry. Depends
on different metals energy gap values are changes from 2.96 to 1.62 eV.
